A SPECIFIERS GUIDE TO RAINSCREEN SYSTEMS

As key architects, you will have seen the recent changes to the Building Safety Act and may have wondered how this affects the rainscreen element of your projects. You may also have seen moves by several key clients (NHS, MoD, DfE etc) and an increase number of tier 1 contractor’s towards something called CCPI accreditation. You may be interested in our accredited CPD on Rainscreen Facades, which covers all these elements? The object of the seminar is to give you a better understanding of what a rainscreen is and what has to be considered when specifying a rainscreen system.

THE FUTURE OF EXTERNAL MASONRY WALL BUILDING SYSTEMS FROM JUWO-SMARTWALL

Masonry wall methods of building haven’t changed in decades but are expected to fit into the new Future Building requirements of providing insulation as well as being able to resist rain penetration. Modern ways of building an external wall by using Monolithic Construction Methods not only provide the required insulation standards but don’t require cavities, additional insulation and are easier to build.

SPECIFYING NATURAL ROOFING SLATE

The CPD Seminar from Cupa Natural Slate identifies the key design and technical features needed when specifying natural slate.

FLOOR VOIDS – ENERGY LOSS; MOISTURE INGRESS; DAMP AND MOULD; CONTAMINANT INGRESS; TREATMENT METHODS

Floor Voids below Suspended Timber Floors in existing buildings and their impact on Indoor Environment has not been fully understood until recently. This frequently results in unrealistic expectations when it comes to retrofit design as well as to significant negative impact on Indoor Air Quality post-retrofit (with ventilation, in some cases, a contributing rather than mitigating factor). This CPD, based on the thorough Scientific Research, assesses the Floor Void Environment, it’s impact in the Indoor Air Quality and considers subjects such as Energy Efficiency, Occupant Comfort and Health, Moisture Risk, Damp and Mould, Ingress of Contaminants, Radon Gas, and other issues and how they are impacted on by the Floor Void and it’s interface with the house.
